I have combination skin, with some oily areas and some dry areas. During the summer, my oily skin gets oilier resulting in an overly shiny face by the end of the day (not pretty). So, I applied Dermalogica's Clearing Mattifier all over my face, avoiding the eye area and dry areas. I found that my makeup looked nicer through out the day as the product controlled the oil, and I didn't have to touch-up as much, if at all.
Those of you with dry skin or mature skin should skip this product as it can be drying. Those of you with oily or combination skin will be pleasantly surprised by this product. I think even people with normal skin could get away with using this.
When I first applied it to my face I was skeptical of how well it would work, especially since it felt so thick. However, the Clearing Mattifier really does "melt" into your skin leaving a light, velvety finish.
PROS:
- Acne treatment can be worn under makeup
- Controls oil and shine
- Shrinks the appearance of pores and fine lines
- Goes on smooth
- Does not irritate my sensitive skin
CONS:
- Consistency of the product makes it a bit difficult to dispense
- Pricey ($42.00 for 1.3oz)
Here are the before and after photos, which I must admit I deliberated over posting for quite a while since I'm not wearing any makeup *gasp*. This is me all natural. I have baby lashes (that's why I where falsies religiously ;)) and I have lots of freckles and hyper-pigmentation. However, I decided to properly show you the effects, I had to go bare skinned. As you can see from the picture, the shine in between my eyebrows is gone and my pores are less noticeable. When the weather warms up, my skin gets oily and I start to breakout. This product addresses all of those problems. Overall, it gives my skin a nice texture that helps my makeup apply effortlessly and stay beautiful all day long! Although the Clearing Mattifier is a bit expensive, I would definitely repurchase because the benefits outweigh the cost, in my opinion.
To keep in theme with my "all natural" post. I decided to do an Eye of the Day without false lashes, and I skipped the foundation and just went with concealer and some mineral powder.

WOW! Seems like an amazing product! But kind of pricey! =( I like to use TooFaced's Primed & Poreless for the same uses as this product. I have the same oily face syndrome issue! hahaha BTW - I love to use MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish Natural powder also when I go sans foundation! =)
