Product of the Week

NEW - Exuviance Evening Restorative Complex

What it does...

According to Ulta.com, this product will "retexture your skin nightly with this indulgent nightly restorative complex."

Notable ingredients:

  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin A

This is what it reads on the back label of the product:

"This intensive high-performing cream is designed ti help repair dry, photo-damaged skin and fight the visible signs of aging. Contains a bionic blend of gluconolactone and lactobionic acid (PHAs)."

- For all skin types.

The Verdict...

I have been using the evening restorative complex for about three weeks. So far, my skin feels much smoother and softer, and some of my acne marks and sun spots have started to fade.

The product is in cream form, so it feels heavy at first, but it lightens up once it is absorbed into the skin.

- It says for all skin types, but I would probably steer clear of this product if you have oily/very oily skin.

$$ Relatively affordable ($40)

I would recommend this product to others. And I plan to purchase more products from this line.

L'Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm

As I get older, I am becoming more obsessed with skin care and wrinkle prevention. I never used to use eye cream, but I decided it's better to start before I actually have wrinkles. Eye creams have always left me feeling skeptical, but this eye cream actually yields visible results. The skin around my eyes has started to look dry and papery, and I see fine lines (others will argue with me about that). After using L'Occitane's eye balm the skin around my eyes appears more hydrated and supple. My "fine lines" are less noticeable and I just feel my eyes have a more radiant and awake look about them. Plus, makeup goes on smoother with a nice canvas to work with.

Another thing I like about this product is that it is gentle on my sensitive eye area. Past eye creams made my skin sort of itchy, which would deter me from using them consistently. I definitely plan on making this a part of my nightly skin routine.

Do you use an eye treatment? Which one?

DHC Cleansing Oil

My coworker mentioned this product to me, so I had to give it a try. If you've never tried a cleansing oil before, then this is the one to start with. Although it is an oil it is okay for all skin types, even oily skin. You simply rub the oil all over your face, breaking up makeup and dirt, then rinse with water. After rinsing you can begin your normal cleansing routine. I have tried other cleansing oils, but this one left my skin feeling SO clean, and SO soft! It is my new favorite! DHC is so confident in their product that they will send you a free sample to try. Checkout their website for details - www.dhccare.com.

 L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

After seeing a commercial for this product I decided to give it a try. Prior to using this, I was using L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara or Dior's Dior Show Mascara. The Voluminous mascara can be kind of clumpy and DiorShow dries out really fast. I feel that I have found a happy medium with L'Oreal's new Million Lashes Mascara. It gives great volume without being clumpy, and somewhat lengthens lashes too. I found I have to put a few more coats than usual to get the results I want. The plastic bristles on the brush define lashes while keeping them clump-free!!! Another nice thing about this product is it is inexpensive and available at drug stores. And I love the gold tube too! It makes it feel like a luxury item ;)

*As with all mascara, it takes a couple uses to get the brush fully saturated. Don't judge this product by the first use, give it some time and I know you'll love the results.

Kate Somerville's EradiKate

OH-EM-GEE! I can't even begin to describe how amazing this product is for blasting unwanted pimples. Recently I have been breaking out more than usual, so I have been looking for a good spot treatment. The active ingredient in this product is sulfur, which in my opinion works better than salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. If you are having mild to moderate breakouts this will clear it up almost overnight. I am on day 4 of my treatment and I can tell my skin will be completely clear within a week or so.

As you can see in the image below, the product has two layers. The most important thing about using this is DO NOT SHAKE the bottle. The product is applied in the separated state. You simply dip a Q-tip in the solution and apply to affected area. Then you just wait for it to work its magic ;)

Happy zit zapping!!!

Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet Foundation

Lately, I have been on the hunt for a new liquid foundation. I decided to give Make Up For Ever a try since I had been hearing so much about their HD Foundation. After reading the different descriptions online and speaking with a makeup rep, I settled on MUFE's Mat Velvet Foundation. It gives me lots of coverage with little product and applies so smoothly.
